Born in Germany, Katharina grew up in Calgary training from a young age at Alberta Ballet School. Katharina has pursued further intensive training at The National Ballet of Canada, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, The Ailey School (USA), and Harbour Dance Center. While obtaining her BFA in Contemporary Dance from the Boston Conservatory (2016 summa cum laude), Katharina performed in works by world-renowned choreographers including Mark Morris, Danny Buraczeski, Uri Sands, Richard Colton and Andrea Miller. Katharina has danced with Boston artists and dance companies including Emily-Jerant Hendrickson, Wiss.co Dance, Cathy Young, Luminarium Dance Company, Lorraine Chapman The Company, and City Ballet of Boston. Katharina has presented work as a part of Boston Pride Festival, Berklee College of Music, Counterpointe (NYC), and SAGE Ignite! Festival. Since returning to Calgary, she has performed with Dancers Studio West (Physic/Alchemy 2018, Annual Alberta Dance Festival). Katharina is the Artistic Director of Calgary Core Contemporaries, a project based dance group that is honored to have presented work funded by Canada Council of the Arts (Safe Circles 2020) and to direct ongoing research residencies funded by Alberta Foundation for the Arts (Movement Knowledge as a Kind of Cultural Knowledge 2019) and Calgary Arts Development (Phase II: MKKCK). Katharina is grateful for the support and opportunities provided by Dancers Studio West and Sasha Ivanochko to continue the development of new work.
