Ashley King is the Artistic Associate with Inside Out Theatre, a disability-led theatre company
located in Calgary, Alberta. Throughout her time at IOT, Ashley has worked towards improving inclusion
and accessibility in Calgary’s theatre scene. As a creator, performer and community member living with a
visual impairment, she’s well versed on the triumphs, obstacles and shortcomings in the theatre
community and the province as a whole. Additionally, as a woman of colour, Ashley has witnessed first
hand how the theatre community within Calgary has been and continues to work towards improving
diversity. Having lived abroad and travelled the world a number of times, Ashley has had the opportunity
to learn from other cultures and communities, witnessing how theatre and creation exists elsewhere.
Ashley has a bachelor’s degree in communications, majoring in Journalism, as well as a Certificate in
International Communications, both from Mount Royal University.
