Programming Updates in Response to COVID-19

Dear friends,

I’m certain it will come as no surprise that we will be postponing the premiere of Associate Artist Linnea Swan’s new work, Made Up, our inaugural Quick + Dirty: A Festival of Emerging Artists and Ideas and our 40th Anniversary celebrations as a measured response to the COVID-19 pandemic. While we are disappointed to have to wait, we are finding solace in our commitment to the artists we are working with.

Our 40th Anniversary Gala on May 7th was to be our major fundraising event this year. And I know of lots of other arts organizations that have also lost opportunities to generate revenue because of the pandemic. If you have the means, I ask you to please consider making donations to your favourite  company or artist to help us through these uncertain times. If DSW is in your heart and mind, this Canadahelps link will guide you through the steps to give us your support.

While we can’t be in the studio right now, we will be staying in touch via online platforms. We will continue to gather monthly on Zoom for Talking, Thinking, Dancing Body. The week of April 27th, I will be guiding movement sessions for dancers and those who just want to move through our Instagram page. We will be continuing our new series of members profiles through our newsletter. Times, dates and the information will be announced on all our social media pages and website. Stay tuned and stay connected.

May you be healthy and hunkered down somewhere safe and warm during these extraordinary times we living out.
